Status: Full Time

Hours: Monday - Friday, 35 hours/week

Home Campus: Fennell (hybrid work arrangements available)

Rate of Pay: Payband 10 ($88,983 - $111,230 per year)

The Bay Area Climate Change Council (BACCC) is a collective impact initiative of 14 community leaders working to accelerate climate action in the Burlington-Hamilton, "Bay Area" region.

To reach net zero by 2050, BACCC is working with partners to advocate and support smart policies and projects that will cut carbon emissions and support the transition to thriving and resilient net-zero carbon communities by 2050. To achieve this, BACCC convenes working groups called implementation teams (BACCITs) that work to identify and remove barriers to decarbonization. In 2026-2028, the focus will be primarily on addressing barriers and accelerating action on low-carbon, high-performance buildings, and exploring opportunities to support the growth of abundant, clean energy resources to support decarbonization of industry, buildings, and transportation in the Bay Area.

The Manager will support BACCC by overseeing the coordination, evaluation and promotion of BACCC's work and that of its Implementation Teams (BACCITs). The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker and problem solver who has extensive experience in successfully leading multi-sector projects and collective impact initiatives. The ideal candidate will also have experience in strategic planning, policy analysis, and government relations.

BACCC is supported by the Cities of Burlington and Hamilton and is administratively housed at the Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College. The Manager will report to the Bay Area Climate Change Council. Their role and responsibility will be shaped by the Council's needs. The Manager will work at Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College and will be a Mohawk College employee, but will take direction from the Bay Area Climate Change Council.

What you’ll be doing:

• Collaborate with BACCC, the BACCITs, and key stakeholders to design, implement and evaluate priority climate change initiatives that have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions – these projects will include clear objectives, milestones, performance metrics, timeframes, implementation roles and responsibilities.
• Ensure BACCC, BACCITs and stakeholder relationships are well-managed and lead to successful multi-sector projects through effective communication and stakeholder relations.
• Facilitate the evolution of BACCC's strategic plan and manage corresponding work plans.
• Provide regular progress reports to inform BACCC, BACCITs, as well as City Councils, key stakeholders and the public informed and engaged.
• Effectively measure and report on KPIs and other measures of success, as well as reporting to key stakeholders and funders.
• Perform policy analysis and government relations activities to forward climate policy in the region.
• Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of engagement and outreach campaigns and assets, including events, digital, and print campaigns.
• Manage and support BACCC staff and interns.

What you’ll bring to the role:

• A minimum four (4) year Degree in Business, Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, and/or Environmental Resource Management.
• A Master's degree or Graduate level studies will be considered an asset.
• Experience in supporting collective impact initiatives.
• Experience in multi-stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
• Strong governance skills, with experience setting a clear strategic direction, establishing clarity, and reporting responsibly and transparently.
• Responsible use of AI and other software supports.
• Experience in successfully managing and supporting a team.
• Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse groups.
• Experience in digital communications, marketing or maintaining a website are considered assets.

A minimum of five (5) years of experience with the following is preferred:

• Demonstrated success in leading multi-stakeholder projects, in particular, collectives or coalitions.
• Experience in leading the development, implementation and evaluation of sustainability and/or climate change-related projects.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder relations and communications.
• Experience and understanding of climate change policy, best practices and innovative opportunities.
• Experience in multi-stakeholder engagement and outreach.
