Job summary

Mohawk College of Applied Arts & Technology is seeking a part-time Placement and Community Partner Support Officer for a temporary term (Sept 2026–June 2027) at the IAHS campus with hybrid work options. The role supports clinical placements and community partnerships in the School of Nursing, handling onboarding, training, scheduling, and event coordination.

Status: Temporary Part Time (September 2026 – June 2027)


Hours: Up to 24 hours/week


Home Campus: IAHS (hybrid work arrangements available)


Rate of Pay: $20.29 per hour, plus 6% in lieu of vacation

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Placement and Community Partner Support Officer provides administrative support for clinical placements and community partnerships within the School of Nursing.


The Placement and Community Partner Support Officer supports pre-placement activities, academic areas, and Field Placement Specialists throughout the clinical placement lifecycle. This includes providing administrative support to incoming and returning students, staff, and faculty.


The incumbent also supports community partners with facility onboarding requirements, including non-academic requirements (NARs) and any other mandatory training or orientation, ensuring compliance.


In addition, the role involves maintaining strong relationships with community partners by providing training and support to partners on database systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and promoting effective system utilization. The incumbent delivers high-quality, front-line service via phone, email, and virtual platforms, supporting access to the Preplacement database and other college resources.


The role also coordinates community engagement activities, such as Nursing Week events, job and career fairs, and other partner-focused initiatives. Responsibilities include scheduling, room bookings, and providing on-site event support.


The Placement and Community Partner Support Officer must have a solid understanding of clinical placement processes, database systems (e.g., NirvSystem, HSPnet), Microsoft Office applications, reporting tools, scheduling systems, academic programming, and college policies and procedures.


What you’ll be doing:

Database and Systems Management


  • Establishing and maintaining community partner access in the Preplacement database, ensuring alignment with student and staff clinical placement assignment.

  • Maintaining strong relationships with community partner by providing training and support to partners on database systems, troubleshooting technical issues, and promoting effective system utilization.


Clinical Placement Onboarding Coordination


  • In collaboration with the placement team, the incumbent coordinates facility orientation and onboarding requirements for both students and staff. These may include on-site or virtual orientations, electronic health computer (EHR) training, access card coordination, facility eLearning modules, health placement system requirements (ie HSPNet) and organizing attestation forms.


Onboarding Compliance Coordination


  • Works closely with community partners to ensure compliance with all mandatory onboarding requirements and communicates any outstanding requirements for students or staff to the placement team.


Community Partner Support and Relationship Management


  • Supports community partners with facility onboarding requirements, including non-academic requirements (NARs) and any other mandatory training or orientation.

  • Delivers high-quality, front-line service via phone, email, and virtual platforms, supporting access to the Preplacement database and other college resources.


Event and Engagement Coordination


  • Coordinates community engagement activities, such as Nursing Week events, job and career fairs, and other partner-focused initiatives. Responsibilities include scheduling, room bookings, and providing on-site event support.

What you’ll bring to the role:


  • A minimum of a 2-year post-secondary education in Office/Business Administration with emphasis on computer software programs or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A minimum of 1 year of practical office experience with strong customer service and computer database experience.

  • Experience operating with a considerable degree of independence and initiative; experience working in an educational institution or health care environment would be a definite asset.

  • Requires ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, cope with multiple deadlines and meet departmental priorities.

  • Excellent customer service skills and client relationship building skills.

  • Strong knowledge of databases and spreadsheets (MS Office).

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and process management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving ability, sound judgment and ability to work independently.

  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Flexibility in working hours throughout the year is necessary to meet deadlines & changes.

  • Excellent computer and analytical skills and ability to work with detail.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology an asset.

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
