Job summary

CertainTeed Architectural is seeking a Manager, Project Design to lead and mentor a talented team across Decoustics and Strongsville Wood divisions. You will drive scheduling, resource allocation, and technical excellence in shop drawings and project design for custom ceiling and wall products.

You will oversee a multidisciplinary team, develop CAD procedures, and collaborate with clients. Hybrid work with travel opportunities is offered, with a strong emphasis on leadership and mentorship.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years’ industry experience in commercial construction or equivalent.
  • 15+ years’ leadership experience managing cross-functional design teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of SolidWorks; ERP systems knowledge is a plus.

Job description

CertainTeed Architectural is seeking a Manager, Project Design to lead and mentor a talented team of Senior Project Coordinators and Project Design Supervisors across our Decoustics and Strongsville Wood divisions. This is a pivotal leadership role focused on scheduling, resource allocation, and driving technical excellence in shop drawings and project design for custom ceiling and wall products.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, coach, and mentor a multidisciplinary design team (8–9 direct reports).
  • Assign and schedule projects, manage team workload, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Oversee the creation and validation of detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with internal and external clients to address design and technical inquiries.
  • Develop and implement CAD procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support cross-training and process improvement initiatives to maximize team flexibility.
  • Manage external freelancers and oversee invoicing and billing.
  • Provide regular project status reviews to Project Managers and Senior Management.
  • Travel quarterly to Strongsville and other North American locations (>5–10%).

What You Bring
  • 15+ years’ industry experience in commercial construction or equivalent.

  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD knowledge of SolidWorks; ERP systems knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of custom ceiling design (fiberglass, metal, wood) is a strong asset
  • Proven ability to lead meetings, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and mentoring skills.

In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 15% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures.
