About Us

The (SBP) supplies a full range of information technology (IT) services to government ministries and agencies. It supports government customers with help desk, hardware and software, application development, and IT security services. The Information Technology Division (ITD) also sets government-wide policies and standards in IT infrastructure, IT support services, and security.

The Opportunity

The Architecture and Planning branch within ITD is actively seeking an effective communicator and cross-team collaborator for the role of Manager, Application Portfolio. Reporting to the Director of IT Planning, you will be responsible for directing the team in supporting and executing enterprise strategies related to the application portfolio. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with and advise senior executives in government on all aspects of applications support and lifecycle management while leading teams involving multiple ministries and external resources. As the Manager of Application Planning, you will utilize your significant years of IT experience, along with your strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills in order to :

  • Develop strong relationships and regularly communicate with application stakeholders and customers to shape the application strategy while keeping priorities, business goals and objectives in mind.
  • Offer visionary leadership, expert knowledge, and clear direction to employees, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation in organizational processes;
  • Conduct research and monitor business, market, and technology trends to inform application strategy, proactively propose new solutions and champion innovation in the workplace.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance with established IT standards and policies, safeguarding the integrity and security of our technology framework;
  • Determine and oversee the delivery of the strategy and roadmap for the application portfolio to achieve business outcomes and financial and risk managementobjectives.
  • Proactively identify and resolve impediments to the achievement of business objectives for the application, including technical and resourcing challenges.

Our Ideal Candidate

As our ideal candidate, you will be an experienced IT professional who has :

  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills in order to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including executive leaders.
  • Advanced technology planning and solutions experience, and well-developed business analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of ITIL methodologies, with an emphasis on ITSM.
  • The ability to prioritize, manage, and organize workload and investments while considering varying levels of importance and difficulty.
  • A passion for continuous learning, development, and research in order to stay up to date with the current standards of IT.
  • Typically, the knowledge and experience required to be successful in this role are obtained through :

  • The knowledge required for this position would be obtained through a post-secondary education in computer science. Similar combinations of experience and education will also be considered.
  • 8-10 years of experience in the IT business industry, as well as 3-5 years of experience managing teams.
