As the Manager, Analytics & Insights, you will bridge the gap between data engineering and analysis, ensuring that our data infrastructure supports the creation of rapid, high-quality, and scalable data analytics products. You will work closely with Business Intelligence managers and stakeholders to design and implement scalable data pipelines, create robust data models, and provide the foundation for data-driven decision-making.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Work closely with data engineering teams to manage the development of analytical infrastructure/data models that support accurate reporting and value-added business insights; interact with multiple data sources, leverage the Enterprise Data Lake to extract and transform data into simplified data models that supports reporting for key stakeholders in Finance, Operations and Leadership.
  • Gather technical requirements and build and optimize data models, in collaboration with Business Intelligence Managers, to ensure accurate, reliable, and well-structured datasets for analysis.
  • Automate repetitive processes and ensure the reliability and performance of data pipelines and/or existing Power BI dashboards and reports.
  • Enhance and improve dataflows created in Visual Studio, optimize SQL queries, and manage the SQL Server database to ensure efficient and scalable data processing.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for data pipelines, models, and analytical workflows to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity within the team.
  • Be responsible for the development, maintenance and distribution of reports and dashboards focused on key performance measures for Scotia Securities Inc (SSI) distribution channels including, but not limited to, mutual funds sales, assets under administration, tier 1 supervision, and compliance reporting.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, Economics or Statistics.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Data Science/Analytics/Business Intelligence/Data Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience with ETL tools (Talend, dbt or similar), cloud platforms (Azure) and data modeling (dimensional modeling, snowflake etc.).
  • Advanced experience in SQL Server/Power BI/Visual Studio. Python/R knowledge is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in data infrastructure management - data mining, profiling, modeling, cleansing, enriching as well as extract, transform, load (ETL) solutions and scripting.
  • An understanding of Canadian Retail Banking and Wealth Management Distribution.
  • An ability to translate technical knowledge into business value.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
