Job description

Google's Applied AI team is looking for a Manager, Agent Development to join their ranks in Waterloo, Ontario. This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of cutting-edge generative AI, enterprise software development, and strategic customer engagement — an opportunity to shape how some of the world's largest organizations connect with their customers through AI-powered solutions.

In this role, you'll serve as both a technical lead and a people manager, embedded with key accounts to build, deploy, and optimize sophisticated AI agents on Google's CES platform. You'll bridge the gap between field insights and product roadmaps while growing a team of exceptional developers working on agentic systems, multi-agent workflows, and foundation models.

About the Role: Manager, Agent Development, Applied AI

Google's Cloud Applied AI (AAI) team powers business growth with Gemini Enterprise, a portfolio that includes Shopping Agent, CX Agent Studio, Agent Assist, Vertex AI Search, and Customer Experience Insights. As the Agent Development Manager, you'll act as a specialized software development leader embedded with strategic accounts — building real-world AI solutions that deliver measurable results, from large call-centre customer agents to AI-powered food ordering systems.

You'll establish code standards, architectural best practices, and development benchmarks across your team, while collaborating with sales, tech leadership, and product teams to resolve blockers and translate complex technical requirements into executable roadmaps. Staying ahead of an evolving AI stack — including MCP, tool-calling, and emerging foundation models — is central to this position.
