Job description

A growing real estate investment firm is seeking a Manager, Accounting and Finance to help build and strengthen its internal finance function. This is a high-impact role suited for professionals with strong analytical skills and leadership potential, looking to take ownership over financial reporting and systems development in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role
Reporting to the senior finance leadership, the Manager, Accounting and Finance will oversee key reporting processes, support budgeting and audits, and guide accounting operations. This role includes mentorship of junior staff, system enhancements, and hands-on involvement in portfolio-level financial oversight across both residential and commercial assets.

What You’ll Do

  • Review monthly reports from third-party property managers including rent rolls, accruals, utilities, and fees
  • Prepare and review quarterly financial reporting packages
  • Lead financial variance analysis for both residential and commercial portfolios
  • Assist in the preparation and review of annual property budgets
  • Manage CAM and tax reconciliations
  • Coordinate year-end audit preparation and liaise with external auditors
  • Enhance accounting templates, systems, and internal reporting processes
  • Support financial system upgrades and administrative controls
  • Provide coaching and guidance to junior accounting staff
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally with exposure to residential or commercial real estate
  • Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or finance
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and presentation tools; experience with industry-standard accounting software is an asset
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
  • Ability to think critically, enhance processes, and work under tight deadlines
