Job summary

MNP LLP is seeking a Manager for its Accounting Advisory Services team in Canada, driving technical accounting advisory work on significant transactions and new standards. You’ll guide clients through go‑public readiness, perform research, and deliver financial information for regulatory compliance while mentoring junior staff.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Finance, Tax, Valuation, Forensics and Litigation teams, and requires CPA designation with 4–6 years of public accounting

Qualifications

  • CPA designation completed and active in good standing.
  • 4–6 years of relevant work experience in public accounting.
  • Experience auditing public companies in Canada or the US.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS and ASPE.
  • Experience leading engagements and mentoring teammates.
  • Ability to develop proposals and support business development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical accounting advisory services for significant transactions and new standards.
  • Support go-public journeys, milestones, and regulatory financial information readiness.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and document findings for clients.
  • Mentor and coach team members to meet performance expectations.
  • Prepare financial statements and notes, applying IFRS/US GAAP/ASPE knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Finance, Tax, Valuation, Forensics and Litigation Support teams.
  • Update senior management on engagement progress and outcomes.
  • Develop client relationships and understand MNP services and industry.

Make an impact with our Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) team as a Manager. This diverse team of professionals are dedicated to exceeding clients’ unique needs within a rapidly evolving business and financial reporting landscape. As a trusted advisor, you’ll collaborate on a range of technical projects, such as new accounting standard implementation, acquisition accounting, revenue recognition, complex transaction accounting and initial public offering (IPO) readiness.

Responsibilities


  • Provide technical accounting advisory services, including understanding and addressing the implications of significant transactions, new accounting standards, and frameworks on financial reporting mandates and business objectives

  • Support clients in their go-public journey, including developing go-public strategies, establishing milestones and deliverables, and preparing financial information for regulatory compliance

  • Perform technical accounting research, prepare documentation for clients, and identify accounting issues within contracts and agreements

  • Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues promptly

  • Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes

  • Apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)

  • Collaborate with MNP’s Corporate Finance, Tax, Valuation, Forensics, and Litigation Support teams to offer comprehensive, collaborative services

  • Update senior manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements

  • Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management

  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry

  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes

  • Lead engagement teams while coaching and mentoring team members

  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting knowledge

  • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness

  • Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews

  • Raise awareness of MNP through discussions at community events including client and company sponsored functions

  • Network in the local business community and consider business development opportunities


Skills and Experience


  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

  • 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience in public accounting

  • Experience in auditing public companies in Canada or in the US

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with US GAAP, IFRS and ASPE accounting standards

  • Experience leading, managing and mentoring team members

  • Experience leading client engagements and interacting directly with clients

  • Experience with proposals and business development

  • Experience dealing with Canadian and US securities regulators is an asset

  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles

  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Some travel may be required

The annual salary range for this role is $80,000 - $130,000
