Job Title: Accounting Manager

Blackbird Security Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven Accounting Manager to join our team and play a key role in strengthening our financial operations as we continue to build and expand our company.

Role Summary: As the Accounting Manager, you will lead our Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) teams, reporting directly to the Financial Controller and CFO. This is a full-time, in-office position based in Vancouver, BC. The role requires a proactive individual who is ready to take ownership, work independently, and drive the performance and productivity of the accounting department. The ideal candidate will be highly detail-oriented, possess strong time management skills, and demonstrate a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles along with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting team.
  2. Supervise the bi-weekly invoicing process to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
  3. Monitor outstanding and overdue invoices, ensuring appropriate follow-ups and reminders.
  4. Ensure the completion of key financial deliverables in accordance with internal deadlines and standards.
  5. Maintain and update accurate financial records.
  6. Reconcile accounts receivable and issued invoices regularly.
  7. Manage the preparation and distribution of bi-weekly invoices.
  8. Communicate with clients professionally and promptly regarding billing inquiries.
  9. Identify discrepancies or issues in financial data and take corrective actions.
  10. Update payroll hours control sheet and review adjustment control sheets.
  11. Supervise bookkeeping processes, including AR/AP reconciliation and bank reconciliations.
  12. Assist with period-end close activities.
  13. Log and propose process improvements quarterly.
  14. Prepare and present financial reports to management as needed.
  15. Provide support to the Financial Controller or CFO.
  16. Collaborate on financial projects and ad hoc tasks.
  17. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing or supervising a team.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks or NetSuite.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or related field is an asset.
  • Experience with TrackTik software is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to report to Vancouver office regularly.

Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 annually
