Job description

AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Rural Acute Care Site Manager at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre, responsible for leading teams in acute care, the emergency department, and endoscopy programs. In this role, you will support a dynamic healthcare team and a diverse rural patient population. Your duties include recruitment, performance management in a unionized environment, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. You will be part of the CenZ Rural Acute Care leadership team, promoting quality improvement, staff engagement, and collaboration with community partners. Reporting to the Director, Acute Care North West, you will provide leadership through demonstrated competence, commitment, and alignment with organizational vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Providing staff and program leadership in clinical operations at the Drayton Valley Hospital and Care Centre.
  2. Supporting the implementation of local, zonal, and provincial initiatives.
  3. Ensuring effective deployment of human resources, fostering a safe and inclusive workplace.
  4. Supporting staff development through coaching, mentoring, and training.
  5. Managing fiscal and capital resources, understanding and reporting on budgets.
  6. Fostering a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in a health profession, health administration, leadership, or equivalent.
  • Registration with an Alberta Regulated Health Profession, as applicable.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage change and develop innovative solutions.
  • Experience managing diverse resources in complex environments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience collaborating with healthcare professionals and understanding collective agreements.
  • Discretion with sensitive information and personnel matters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in healthcare teams, with a focus on rural acute care and emergency services.
  • Proven coaching skills and experience in large, complex organizations.
  • Knowledge of rural healthcare system complexities.
