Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is hiring for a Grocery Associate to support the division in merchandising and customer service. You will assist with displays, ordering, and minimizing out-of-stocks while delivering world-class service.

The role emphasizes managing shelf presentation, stocking, price changes, and rotating goods across Frozen, Dairy and Bakery sections. Night shifts and flexible hours are available to meet store needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years retail experience for high school graduates.
• Combination of post-secondary education and retail experience acceptable.
• Grocery retail experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide world-class customer service and assist in merchandising.
• Write Grocery orders and manage displays.
• Load/unload merchandise for floor distribution and shelves stocking.
• Handle price changes and maintain product rotation.
• Set up displays in Frozen Food, Dairy and Bakery sections.

This position helps to implement Division Grocery Merchandising programs. Assists in managing displays, ordering and minimizing out-of-stocks within the department; the overall presentation of the department, while providing excellence in world-class customer service.

Here’s Where You’ll Have An Impact

• Provide world-class customer service
• Write Grocery order
• Load and unload merchandise for sales floor distribution
• Price changes as required
• Stock merchandise on shelves
• Set up displays
• Frozen Food, Dairy and Bakery Section – load, unload, store, rotate and order
• Schedule flow of merchandise – arrange stock room, damaged merchandise, spoils, salvage.
• Retrieve carts
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Store Manager

Skills Required

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

• Available to work flexible hours (am/pm shift)

Educational And Experience

• For high school graduates (or equivalent) with no post-secondary education, a minimum of 3 years retail experience*.
• For candidates with some post-secondary education, a combination of post-secondary education and retail experience* must be at least 3 years. A minimum of 6 months retail experience*.
• For college graduates, Bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 months of retail experience*.
• Grocery Retail experience is preferred
