Job description

The Sherwin-Williams Management & Sales Training Program is an entry-level, accelerated position designed to prepare you for a Store Management role within 18-24 months. Emphasizing Sherwin-Williams’ promote-from-within philosophy, successful completion of the initial 8-week training can lead to an Assistant Store Manager position. During the program, you'll work with store management to oversee a million-dollar business, gaining leadership experience and strategic insight. You will learn all aspects of store operations, client management, and internal strategies, understanding your vital role in the team’s success. The program focuses on growing the company’s market share by selling to large commercial users such as painting contractors, purchasing agents, and manufacturers of high-quality products. Our training equips you with essential skills for a successful career in management and professional sales. Upon completing the program, you will have a clear career trajectory that you can shape according to your ambitions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Completing training aligned with program standards.
  • Supporting business strategies to increase sales and profitability.
  • Ensuring high customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  • Maintaining comprehensive product knowledge for effective customer recommendations.
  • Building positive relationships with wholesale and retail customers.
  • Managing store administration and ensuring compliance with policies, including safety and loss prevention.
  • Maintaining store conditions and visual merchandising standards.
  • Supporting employee training, development, and performance management.
  • Responding to customer and employee complaints.
  • Partnering with the Store Manager to make outside sales calls to grow market share.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
  • Possess a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
  • Have at least a college or university diploma or degree.
  • Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 70 lbs. on occasion, and retrieve materials from shelves and stacks.
  • If internal to Sherwin-Williams, received at least a “meets expectations” (3) rating on your latest performance review.
  • Completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses for your current position if internal.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • At least one year of experience in retail, sales, or customer service roles.
  • Leadership experience supervising or leading teams for at least one year.
  • Experience working in team-oriented environments, including extracurricular activities or military service.
  • Experience selling paint and related products.
  • Experience with timekeeping or CRM systems.
  • Willingness to relocate for future opportunities.
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in more than one language.
