Job description

Mammography Technologist, Screening Mammography Program of BC Mobile Operation

BC Cancer

Support breast health for people across British Columbia as a Mammography Technologist with BC Cancer. Combine your technical skills, compassionate care, attention to detail, and a sense of adventure while traveling across the province with BC Cancer’s Mobile Operation team. The program travels to various sites, with team members working two weeks on, and two weeks off, supporting patients through mammography procedures, including education on risk factors and self-examination guidelines.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare patients for mammography by ensuring proper gowning, explaining procedures, answering questions, and assisting or transferring patients to the mammography unit, ensuring their comfort.
  • Produce and develop mammograms according to program standards and radiation safety practices, verifying patient identity and exam details, and operating imaging equipment.
  • Process radiographs, label records, and check images for quality. Report issues to the Mobile Office Manager.
  • Represent SMPBC professionally, maintaining patient confidentiality and respect.
  • Promote patient education on breast cancer and screening guidelines to improve adherence.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and quality control, reporting repairs or supply needs to the central office.

What you bring

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a recognized Radiation Technology program.
  • Active registration as a Radiology Technologist with CAMRT.
  • At least one year of recent breast imaging experience.
  • Completion of CAMRT/BCIT courses related to mammography or equivalent experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license.

  • Effective communication skills verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of mammography protocols, equipment, and patient care techniques.
  • Ability to perform screening mammography techniques.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to understanding legislative and provincial commitments, including Indigenous rights and reconciliation initiatives.

Location: Provincial position; based out of any BC Cancer location.
