Job description

The Detox Ambassador is the head and heart of The Detox Market customers’ in-store experience. Our Makeup Artists bring their additional training and expertise in makeup to the Detox Ambassador role and are responsible for the majority of makeup related inquiries in-store, in particular in the form of one-on-one makeup consultations. It is The Detox Ambassador’s responsibility to ensure our guests feel welcome and leave our stores feeling empowered by the expert knowledge and exemplary service they receive. Our mission is to educate all those who enter our stores in green beauty and wellness, as well as learn from our visitors by listening to their needs and committing to finding the best solution. Along with our ongoing education initiatives and brand trainings, Detox Ambassadors and Makeup Artists are constantly evolving and strengthening their own knowledge in green beauty and wellness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consistently provide exceptional customer service with clients in-store, via CRM and chat, as well as through phone and email inquiries.
  • Maintain and build a strong personal clientele base.
  • Ring up sales, returns, and exchanges in POS system.
  • Take a lead role in selling, maintaining, and educating customers and colleagues about the makeup brands in store, including but not limited to:
  • Own and execute makeup service appointments with excellence from start to finish, including applications, lessons, colour matching, and clean beauty swaps.
  • Actively seek opportunities to offer makeup services to new and existing clients.
  • Assist as needed with the organization, testers, and inventory of the makeup area.
  • Ensure all makeup sampling areas are well-stocked and take a leadership role in ensuring all supplies needed for makeup appointments are available and organized.
  • Be available to peers as a point person for makeup knowledge.
  • Provide thoughtful feedback to store leadership regarding product assortment.
  • Be engaged in working with the store team towards all store KPIs including but not limited to store sales goals.
  • Participate in staff education sessions both during and outside of regular store hours as needed.
  • Actively participate in and support all efforts at accurate inventory management and store standards as directed by store leadership including:
  • Counting in transfers and POs with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • All monthly expiry and tester freshness checks.
  • Daily maintenance of tester freshness, cleanliness, and display standards.
  • Participate in regular inventories and cycle counts as directed.
  • Restocking shop floor as merchandise is sold strictly using the “First In First Out” policy to ensure our natural products do not expire.
  • Support as needed for in-store and off-site events as well as ad-hoc projects that may require availability outside of regular business hours.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are consistently adhered to, and adopt new systems and policies as needed.
  • Build and maintain productive and effective relationships with peers and new additions to the team, participating in and actively fostering a welcoming and supportive work culture.
  • Ensure a consistently beautiful and engaging shopping experience, adhering to The Detox Market brand with all visual merchandising and displays.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Genuine interest in natural beauty and healthy living; excited to keep up with industry trends.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, able to meet and interact with people and demonstrate an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
  • Must be a self-starter and a team player! This is a small team: we need someone who takes initiative, is proactive, and enjoys working with a group in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Additional Requirements:

  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • May need to carry boxes up to 25 lbs.
  • Weekend and evening availability.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
