Job description

Under minimal supervision, the Maintenance Worker III is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance and Engineering Department at the Edm Central Production Facility. Reporting to the Manager and under the supervision of the Lead Hand, the Maintenance Worker III performs a variety of skilled and complex operational and maintenance / repair duties requiring the use of schematics, blueprints, and specifications while also using precedent and judgment in determining work methods used in accordance with accepted codes, standards, regulations, and procedures. The incumbent will work rotating shifts including weekends and will be asked to rotate on-call responsibilities. This position may be required to work at other sites within the Community & Rural Sites portfolio, including Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Sturgeon Community Hospital, Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, among others.

Description:

As a Maintenance Worker III, you may perform a variety of skilled maintenance and repair work on patient and hospital equipment and complex mechanical systems to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. Your duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electronic components on hospital equipment; monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing repairs on boilers, HVAC, medical air and vacuum systems, and pure water systems. You may also coordinate and assign work to other Maintenance Worker staff to meet operational requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field and/or 1 year specialized/technical training in a related field OR 5th Class Power Engineer Certificate as per ABSA kW rating guidelines or AHS standards where boiler support is necessary.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

Additional Required Qualifications:

  • High School education or equivalent along with a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate or higher.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years related experience in building and/or hospital service.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
  • ABSA Certification.
  • Good physical condition with ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders with arms above shoulder height.
  • Basic computer skills and good verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-Secondary education and/or technical training in a related field (asset).
  • Experience with trades, aerial platform training, confined space awareness, and First Aid with CPR/AED training (assets).
