Job summary

Carewest is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our Colonel Belcher site in Calgary. Under general supervision, you will perform mechanical maintenance and repair on building systems and equipment to support safe, reliable care environments.

You will handle preventative maintenance on HVAC, life safety, nurse call, plumbing, and patient beds, while assisting other maintenance staff and contractors as needed to keep facilities operating smoothly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable vehicle.
• Minimum two years related experience in building maintenance.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience working with customers.
• Ability to read and understand written instruction.
• Basic computer skills for use of the AHS e-Facilities system.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of skilled mechanical maintenance and repair on building, equipment and systems.
• Perform demand facility maintenance as required by the customer.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC, life safety, nurse call, telephones, beds and lifts, plumbing and drainage.
• Assist other maintenance staff and contractors; perform other related duties as required.

The Opportunity

Position Summary

Under general supervision performs a wide range of skilled mechanical maintenance and repair work related to the building, equipment, and operating systems as per the Carewest standards. Representative work includes: Demand facility maintenance as required by the customer. Preventative maintenance on all facility systems and equipment , which includes but not limited to HVAC, Life safety systems, Nurse Call, Telephones, patient beds and lifts, plumbing and drainage systems. Provide assistance to all other maintenance staff, as well as contractors. Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• High School Diploma is required
• Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle
• Minimum two years related experience in building maintenance in an institutional setting is required
• Mechanical aptitude is required. Demonstrated experience working with customers
• Ability to read and understand written instruction
• Basic computer skills are required for daily use of the AHS e-Facilities system
