Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance & Engineering Manager, the incumbent is responsible for conducting a variety of maintenance repairs. In addition to the duties of Maintenance Worker I, the incumbent shall perform duties that include the basic maintenance, operation, and repair of facility buildings, installations, fixtures, furnishings, machinery, and equipment. This position will assist tradespersons as needed and often works on projects independently. Employees work from work orders, sketches, or verbal instructions through various stages of numerous projects and are expected to complete the work assigned within scheduled timeframes and in accordance with approved practices and procedures. This position requires work at other hospital sites within the Edmonton Zone, including rural locations such as Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Sturgeon Community Hospital, Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, among others.
Description:
As a Maintenance Worker II, you may perform routine preventative and demand maintenance activities within the exterior and interior of the building. Under general supervision, you may perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on facility architectural, structural, and mechanical systems/components to ensure safety and efficient operation of the building systems and equipment. You may perform general maintenance duties including drywall, flooring, and painting repairs. Additional duties may include minor plumbing repairs, minor equipment repairs, checks on equipment for pressure and temperature, and disassembly of equipment for cleaning.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Possession of a valid driver's license. Power Engineer 5th Class Certificate required if boiler support is needed.
Additional Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years’ related experience in Building Maintenance. Good physical condition with ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work on ladders with arms above shoulder height for extended periods. No physical limitations regarding sitting, bending, kneeling, or crouching. Computer skills and good verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to organize workloads and complete duties timely and thoroughly. Commitment to providing quality customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of purchasing processes and sources for specialized parts. Training or experience in a recognized trade. Power Engineer 5th Class Certification is an asset.
