Job summary

Marguerite-Bourgeoys School Service Centre is seeking a full-time maintenance worker for our Montreal area schools. You will clean, maintain, and repair facilities across multiple sectors and ensure safe, well-lit environments for students and staff.

The role requires physical work, the ability to work day or evening shifts, and a valid car is a plus. Fluency in French (oral) is required, with a focus on reliability and attention to detail.

• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces several times daily.
• Monitor lighting, heating, and ventilation systems.

Job description

Some build schools. Others keep them running every day. Being a maintenance worker at CSSMB means ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and good condition of the places where hundreds of students learn and grow every day. A concrete, varied, and meaningful job, carried out by versatile and caring individuals on whom our entire school community can rely.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and maintenance work on buildings, grounds, and equipment;

• Handle and transport goods, furniture, and other items;

• Use various equipment (e.g., Zamboni, auto-scrubber, etc.);

• Ensure to clean and disinfect frequently used surfaces several times a day;

• Monitor the proper functioning of lighting, heating, and ventilation systems;

• Occasionally replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes or perform minor repairs;

• Any other related tasks.

Requirements

• Be available full-time, during the day (6 AM to 2:30 PM) and/or evening (2:30 PM to 11 PM), Monday to Friday;

• Be available to work across our entire territory or at least in one of our three (3) sectors:

  1. North Sector: Saint-Laurent, Mont-Royal, Outremont, and Côte Saint-Luc;

  2. South Sector: Lachine, LaSalle, Verdun, and Île-des-Sœurs;

  3. West Sector: Dorval to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue;

• Have a good knowledge of the French language, orally;

• Be able to perform physical tasks, including lifting and transporting loads/furniture, standing for long periods, handling heavy equipment, and snow removal;

• Be reliable, versatile, and autonomous;

• Demonstrate attention to detail;

• Enjoy performing diverse tasks;

• Enjoy working in different neighborhoods of Montreal;

• Have a car (an asset).
