Job Description

WHAT'S THE JOB?

Reporting to the Camp Manager, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for the light maintenance in a camp setting to ensure the functionality, safety, and cleanliness of the camp facilities.

The position involves a remote work lifestyle in a camp setting with the following amenities:

  • All meals and accommodations are provided
  • Travel is provided to and from the site locations from designated locations in the Thunder Bay and surroundingarea
  • Private room with cable television
  • Access to Wi-Fi
  • Access to laundry facilities and detergents
  • Access to a gym and common areas

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance checks on assets in the camp setting such as changing light bulbs, doors, taps, etc.
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues as they arise (plugged toilets, leaking faucets, broken or damaged appliances/equipment, HVAC systems, etc.)
  • Complete light carpentry duties • Inspecting, cleaning, and replacing filters as required
  • Remove garbage from dorms and disposing at designated garbage site daily
  • Snow removal as required
  • Assisting janitorial and housekeeping staff in heavy lifting and other tasks
  • Data entry of all maintenance related issues and repairs
Qualifications

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Related maintenance experience in remote lodge setting or hotel/institutional environment/ construction setting is required
  • Valid G Class or Class 5 Drivers License and clean abstract is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience using light power tools is required
  • A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
  • Ability to prioritize multiple task demands and organize a work schedule
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications and use of maintenance reporting software
  • Ability to handle the following physical demands:
    • Lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs
    • Climb ladders or stairs
    • Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended periods of time
    • Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
    • Work with arms above shoulder height

Work schedule and remuneration:

Maintenance Workers work on a rotational schedule of 3 weeks on/3 weeks off. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on a daily basis ranging from $300.00 - $335.00, dependent on skillset and experience.
