The Facilities Maintenance team at Providence Health Care are looking to hire an experienced Maintenance Worker 5 to contribute to the well-being of the communities we serve by helping ensure the seamless operation of St. Paul's Hospital.As a Maintenance Worker 5, you will be a key player in building maintenance, from installations and renovations to executing preventative and corrective maintenance duties related to buildings, structural elements, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.

What You Bring

Education

  • Grade 10, plus four years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.

Your Day to Day:

  • Plumbing Installation:Installs and modifies plumbing fixtures, taps, sinks, and toilets.

  • Electrical/Mechanical Repairs:Repairs equipment like autoclaves, washers, sterilizers, and dryers.

  • Construction & Repair:Builds and repairs shelves, furniture, walls, and other structures.

  • Painting & Decoration:Applies paint, plaster, and wall coverings; installs various items.

  • Renovations & Repairs:Performs minor renovations, roof repairs, and demolitions.

  • Preventative Maintenance:Develops and monitors maintenance procedures, recommends repairs.

  • Supervision:Coordinates work assignments and evaluates employee performance.

  • Cleanliness:Maintains shop, storage rooms, and disposes of materials as required.
