Job summary

Job description

Reporting to the Support Services Supervisor or designate at Mon Sheong Richmond Hill Long Term Care Centre, the incumbent must maintain a comfortable, safe, and aesthetic environment for residents, staff, and visitors. All work will be carried out in accordance with health and safety guidelines and procedures to ensure the safety of residents and workers.

Main Duties:

• Operate building systems, monitor and secure the facility including furnishings, bathrooms, toilets, drains, life safety systems (fire alarm, fire suppression), emergency exits, HVAC systems, hot water boilers, backup power generator, kitchen equipment, communication systems, residents’ aiding equipment, and exterior lighting and grounds.
• Respond to maintenance requests and document repairs.
• Direct parking lot traffic during special events.
• Record operations data and report unusual or alarm signals to the Building Services Supervisor during inspections.
• Maintain the maintenance workshop in good condition.
• Follow all health and safety regulations and fire safety procedures.
• Respond promptly to emergency calls.
• Ensure elevators are maintained safely.
• Monitor and report inventory needs.
• Set up rooms for events and functions.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including painting, equipment checks, and inspections.
• Provide contractor access for inspections and repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Services Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• At least three years of experience in general maintenance and building operations, preferably in long-term care or healthcare facilities.
• Knowledge of commercial building systems, including electrical, backup generators, HVAC, and fire safety systems.
• Relevant training or certification such as Building Environmental System Operator Class I is a plus.
