Job description

Position Summary

Based out of Downsview Mall in Lower Sackville, NS, the Property Maintenance Worker contributes to Crombie REIT’s success by maintaining the property efficiently and effectively. This role involves ongoing building maintenance, repairs, and ensuring high standards of quality across the premises. Main duties include:

  • Providing excellent customer service, addressing tenant concerns, and working positively with tenants and the public; delivering tenant correspondence and posting notices.
  • Performing daily operations, service, cleaning, and maintenance of all areas of the site and surrounding properties, both internally and externally.
  • Removing snow and ice from sidewalks, doorways, and canopies using shovels, snow blowers, or small tractors; salting walkways and parking areas as needed.
  • Maintaining lawns and landscapes with equipment such as trimmers, mowers, and rakes; planting and caring for flowers and shrubs; raking and bagging leaves; shoveling gravel.
  • Carrying out interior and exterior painting, patching holes, cleaning, assembling seasonal décor, clearing roof drains, monitoring building systems, pressure washing, and other maintenance tasks.
  • Washing windows, cleaning walls and ceilings, disinfecting bathrooms, sweeping, mopping, and waste removal.
  • Communicating effectively with the Property Manager and Maintenance Supervisor regarding issues.
  • Meeting with contractors, providing access to mechanical rooms when necessary.
  • Performing water meter readings and tenant inspections as required.
  • Monitoring contractors’ work and ensuring proper completion of duties.
  • Following safety procedures and understanding the importance of workplace safety.
  • Responding to emergencies such as fire alarms, floods, security issues, and accidents.
  • Promoting a safe and respectful work environment across all organizational levels.
  • Handling other projects and tasks as assigned.

The profile we are looking for

  • 1-2 years of maintenance-related experience.
  • Knowledge of building operations is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Dedication to safety and security of customers, tenants, and staff.
  • Clear criminal record check.
  • Physical capability to meet the role’s demands, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally, and 1-10 pounds constantly.
  • Availability for after-hours and on-call work for emergencies.
