Job summary

Saputo in Canada is seeking an organized Electrician to join our maintenance team. This role focuses on reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance of packaging and manufacturing equipment, troubleshooting control systems, and executing installations.

You will collaborate with multiple trades, ensuring safety and food-quality standards are upheld. The position supports a unionized 12-hour rotating night shift schedule, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Journeyperson license with controls background (PLC/robotics/automation).
• Experience in food manufacturing or high-speed packaging is a plus.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics and electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control systems.
• Carry out equipment installations, wiring, and conduit runs as needed.
• Maintain food-safety standards while working in processing environments.

Overview of the Role

Saputo Dairy Products Canada G.P. is seeking a highly organized and proactive Electrician to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Electrician is responsible for the reactive, preventative and predictive maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing and packaging equipment.

How you will make contributions that matter:

• Carries out reactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices.
• Carries out equipment installations and modifications, wiring and running conduits when necessary.
• Work effectively in a processing environment without jeopardizing food safety.
• Follows company policies and safety-first culture while continuously improving standards.
• Works effectively and collaboratively with other trades groups to complete project assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager or assigned leadership designate.
• Excellent trouble shooting skills able to work collaboratively with all departments.
• Highly motivated initiator, able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Effective communication skills, able to complete computer-based workorders.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

• Electrician with a journeyperson license with Controls system (PLC, Robotics, Automation) background
• Excited and willing to work night shift (7pm - 7am) including the availability for weekends
• Proven hands-on experience within food industry or high-speed packaging plant (preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematic, and electrical code specifications
• Comfortable with mechanical troubleshooting and executing assigned mechanical work orders

Any of the following would be considered an asset:

• Experience in construction electrical writing and firm understanding of building/facility regulation
• Knowledgeable and experienced in Allen Bradley, Siemens, controls, VFDs and ABB robotics
• 4th class power engineering certification or Steam Boiler experience including knowledge in CIP/COP systems
• Refrigeration and air handling systems experience in troubleshooting considered an asset

Hourly rate: $46.04

Schedule: 12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule.
