Job description
Overview

The Opportunity: Make your mark while you grow your career. We are seeking a Maintenance Technician – Pipefitter/Steamfitter who will utilize their expertise to install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, repair, and maintain field static equipment throughout the facility in support of the Upgrading and Utilities team at our Horizon Oil Sands. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall safety and maintenance on site and the reliability and integrity of the equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Successful execution of a detailed maintenance plan, staying within the allotted man hours and ensuring integrity of equipment
  • Clean, inspect, repair and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing equipment, observation, or other methods
  • Read and interpret full scale drawings of pipe systems, line classes, supports, and related equipment, following Isometrics and P&ID’s
  • Rig/lift components and torque/tension bolted joints, filling out reports as required
  • Take proactive measures to address improvement opportunities using a continuous improvement mindset
  • Coordinate activities with the mechanical maintenance contractors during outages, ensuring that all relevant procedures are followed, and work is completed on schedule
What You Bring To The Role
  • Typically, 5+ years of demonstrated industry maintenance experience working within heavy oil and/or oil sands environment
  • Journeyman or Red Seal Pipefitter/Steamfitter trades certificate
  • Strong mechanical aptitude on a variety of mechanical equipment including heat exchangers, furnaces/boilers, PSV’s, bolted joints, level gauges, structural steel, QA/QC process
  • Well-developed communications, organizational and interpersonal skills are required
  • Able to work independently within a dynamic work environment is essential
  • Expertise with a variety of computer programs: Office 365, CMMS (Maximo) etc.
