UniFirst Canada is seeking a reliable and hardworking Maintenance Tech II to join our team. As a Team Partner in the Maintenance Department, you will handle repairs, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems, and components. We operate on a standard Monday - Friday work week. We have an immediate opening and provide on-the-job training.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Troubleshoot equipment problems using observation and precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Assist maintenance team with emergency and non-emergency repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and control systems.
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
  • Perform boiler chemical and wastewater testing, record results, and make chemical adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct safety checks on boilers and perform repairs as necessary.
  • Inspect and maintain motors, belts, fluid levels, filters, and other parts.
  • Perform basic welding repairs on facilities and equipment.
  • Lubricate and inspect shafts, bearings, gears, and other equipment parts.
  • Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Must be 18 years or older with a valid non-commercial driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Must pass UniFirst’s maintenance knowledge assessment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two-year technical degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience repairing industrial processing equipment; military experience considered.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with hand and power tools.
  • Lockout/Tagout experience.
  • Welding experience including MIG, TIG, ARC, cutting, and brazing preferred.
  • Experience with safety programs and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems preferred.
  • HVAC and boiler knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
