Maintenance Technician I - UniFirst Canada

UniFirst Canada is seeking a reliable and hardworking Maintenance Tech I to join our team. As a Team Partner in the Maintenance Department, you will handle repairs, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial equipment, systems, and components, both indoor and outdoor. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, large capacity washers, dryers, pneumatic and steam systems, conveyance systems, and boilers. We operate on a standard Monday - Friday work week, have an immediate opening, and provide on-the-job training.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize hand and power tools, electronic testing devices, and precision measurement tools.
  • Ensure safe operation of machinery and systems.
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform repairs.
  • Perform boiler chemical testing and system checks.
  • Record utility meter readings and take corrective actions.
  • Inspect and maintain motors, belts, filters, and other parts.
  • Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Respond to emergency alarms and assist with repairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two-year technical degree preferred.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Pass maintenance knowledge assessment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe record.
  • Experience with maintenance equipment and industrial processing repair (minimum 6 months).
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  • Welding experience preferred.
  • HVAC and boiler knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work overtime as needed.
