Job Description

The Maintenance Technicianinspects, maintains, repairs and installs mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic and/or hydraulic equipment at plant and/or pump stations.

Primary Duties:

  1. Repair, maintain, install, replace, troubleshoot and diagnose various machinery and mechanical equipment such as pumps, conveyors, belts, fans utilizing hand tools and testing instruments;
  2. Inspect completed repairs and recommend appropriate solution;
  3. Perform all work with strict adherence to all applicable safety legislation and procedures;
  4. Estimates time and material costs on electrical and mechanical projects;
  5. Requisition supplies and materials as required and approved by management;
  6. Work from engineering drawings rough sketches, manuals or verbal instruction and install equipment to diagram specifications;
  7. Provide performance feedback to workers to motivate or improve adherence to operating procedures or quality standards;
  8. Complete work orders as required and ensures appropriate follow-up communication;
  9. Disassemble machines and repair/replace/adjust parts accordingly;
  10. Clean and lubricate equipment, parts and machinery;
  11. Maintain equipment in proper operating condition;
  12. May be required to perform machine operator duties on occasion;
  13. Assist co-workers with any questions or issues regarding task completion;
  14. Other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working as an Industrial Maintenance Milwright or an Electrician, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Must hold a valid 433A /426A Millwright Certicate and/or 442A/309A Electrician certificate
  • Must have a valid journeyman certicate as a milwright or electrician
    • Dual License an asset Diploma from an accredited educational institution in a related mechanical field
  • Thorough knowledge of all applicable safety legislation
  • Procient at troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and servicing all plant equipment in a timely manner
  • Strong problem solving, planning and organizational skills
  • Strong mathematical aptitude
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexibility in availability

Work Environment:

  • Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, and attention to detail.
  • Work Site Environment: Can get dusty, recycling odour.
  • Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation
  • Shifts (2): Monday - Friday; 6:00 AM– 2:30 PM & 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, + Overtime; two weeks days then switch to two weeks afternoons. Incumbent will be required to show flexibility in availability according to operational needs.
