Job summary

A prominent retail company in Toronto is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support their distribution center. You will be responsible for troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing maintenance on equipment including HVAC systems, and acting as a lead technician when required. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical knowledge and effective communication skills, demonstrating the ability to work both independently and within a team.

Job description

About the Role

In this position, you will support a continuous improvement culture that will maximize capabilities and efficiencies in our distribution centers. You will Try Fast, Learn Fast and Think Big as you develop, implement, maintain material handling equipment (MHE) and property maintenance. You will identify and effectively troubleshoot complex mechanical or electrical problems while making sound decisions to effectively eliminate downtime.

Schedule : Wednesday to Saturday, 5 : 45am to 3 : 45pm

What You'll Do

Identify and troubleshoot solutions that impact facility product flow

Perform all major repairs / tasks using shop equipment : band saw, Arc and Mig welders, Torch, Hydraulic Press, drill press, lift equipment etc..

Function as a lead technician in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor

Subject matter expert of all DC technology, systems, and process flows

Maintain and troubleshoot all HVAC equipment in the facility

Perform all conveyor, forklift and electrical maintenance

Listen and ask questions to solicit feedback to understand needs and provide service

Who You Are

Strong technical knowledge of MHE, electrical (PLC) and automation in a distribution center environment

Ability to work, plan, and prioritize independently and in a cross functional team

Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills inclusive of exercising good judgement

Capable of multitasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
