Job summary

A premier resort in Nova Scotia is seeking a facility maintenance technician to ensure the upkeep of guest rooms and public areas. Responsibilities include inspecting and repairing HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical equipment, as well as maintaining safety standards. Overview

What You Will Do
  • Responsible to inspect guestrooms, public areas and grounds. Perform and preserve general aesthetic upkeep and general maintenance work of hotel and chalets when required
  • Assist in administering and documenting equipment preventative maintenance and guest room preventative maintenance
  • Conduct inspections and repairs on the company appliances (fridges, ice machines, and washers/dryers) or building\'s equipment such as heating and cooling systems, plumbing systems (plumbing fixtures, toilets, drain lines, shut off valves), or electrical systems
  • Responsible for the daily readings of HVAC equipment, pool chemical balances, verifying life safety systems are fully operational, advising Management of any concerns and take appropriate action to resolve any issues
  • Promote and actively participate in Occupational Health and Safety initiatives. Assist in the implementation of fire and safety inspections making sure they are completed and any discrepancies corrected
  • Liaise with Front desk and Housekeeping about maintenance issues discovered while cleaning rooms and take appropriate action to resolve any issues
  • Removes rubbish, recycling and composting from hotel and brings to collection area

What You Need to Succeed
  • Minimum of 2 years\' experience in a related field, preferably in a similar environment
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC plumbing, fire/life/safety systems, pool operations, carpentry, masonry, all wall covering systems, flooring (including carpet, tile, wood and finishes)
  • Able to work at heights and on ladders
  • Able to meet physical requirements of position, which includes, but is not limited to: frequent standing and walking, lifting (up to 75lbs), bending and kneeling, and pulling and pushing
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays
