Job summary

Skretting in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service and maintain plant equipment and systems on a 12-hour shift schedule. You’ll work 4 days on, 4 days off, with two day and two night shifts per week.

You’ll perform inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and light fabrication while ensuring safety and reliability of boilers, air compressors, and electrical systems. The role requires teamwork, adaptability, and strong data tracking.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Grade 12 diploma; Millwright license or red seal an asset or completion of Millwright apprenticeship.
• Ability to work under pressure with changing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire prevention and safety equipment.
• Execute preventive maintenance across plant operations.
• Complete equipment repairs and light fabrication as required.
• Monitor air compressor and boiler systems to ensure safe operation.
• Diagnose basic electrical issues, including replacing fuses and resetting overloads.
• Identify potential maintenance concerns and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain plant facilities and equipment in a safe, reliable condition.
• Communicate maintenance issues requiring immediate attention to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Accurately update maintenance work orders and records in a timely manner.
• Support plant operations with additional duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire prevention and safety equipment.
• Execute and document preventive maintenance activities across all plant operations.
• Complete equipment repairs, troubleshooting, and light fabrication as required.
• Monitor and maintain air compressor and boiler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Diagnose and resolve basic electrical issues, including replacing fuses, resetting overloads, and reconnecting motors.
• Proactively identify potential maintenance concerns and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain plant facilities and equipment in a safe, reliable, and well-maintained condition.
• Communicate maintenance issues requiring immediate attention to the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Accurately complete and update maintenance work orders, reports, and computerized maintenance records in a timely manner.
• Request technical support or external assistance when necessary.
• Support plant operations by performing additional duties as assigned.

Who We’re Looking For

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Grade 12 diploma. Millwright and red seal (maintenance mechanic) an asset or Completion of Millwright apprenticeship program.
• Able to operate under pressure with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.
• Able to communicate and deal with various stakeholders with tact and diplomacy.
• Adapt to a flexible work style and willingly assist other functions where needed.

You’ll also need

• Ability to work in 12 hours shift, 4 days on 4 days off- 2 days 2 nights per week. Flexible with working hours (shifts) required.
• Ability to bend, twist, lift and carry- 5 to 10 kgs of weight occasionally
• Strong manufacturing background with experience in maintenance
• Attention to detail with good data analysis skills
• Ability to operate effectively both in a solitary and team-oriented environment.
• Effective communication is critical.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
• Openness to work with a diverse culture of people.
• Must be adaptable to change.
