Position : Building Maintenance Technician (Full Time)

Facility : Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada

Job Purpose : Reporting to the Senior Manager of Facilities and Operations, the Building Maintenance Technician works with the facilities team to ensure all systems, equipment, and the entire facility are well maintained and operated to the highest standards. The Technician is involved in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the facility, including repairs, building upkeep, and all other components, both inside and outside, to ensure everything is functioning correctly and to enhance our guest’s experience.

Please note : Due to the nature of our business, we operate 365 days a year. You will be expected to work any shift during, before, or after these hours of operation.

Critical Accountabilities

• Perform maintenance and repair tasks on equipment including interior lighting, plumbing, electrical, and building systems, drywall repair, painting, and troubleshooting issues as required.
• Perform carpentry and general fabrication tasks.
• Participate in groundskeeping and housekeeping to assist in overall facility cleanliness.
• Maintain all working and critical areas to high cleanliness standards, including back-of-house areas.
• Maintain routine and preventative maintenance schedules, keeping accurate logs and records.
• Maintain inventories of critical parts and work within a departmental budget.
• Assist other departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Adhere to all SOPs and safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively within a team and independently when required.
• Use radio communication equipment.

Special Skills and Requirements

Ability to perform physical labor and strenuous tasks.

1-2 years of general mechanical or technical experience is an asset.

Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints and schematics.

Experience with general contracting duties.

Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Knowledge and experience with hand and power tools.

Attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
