Trouw Nutrition is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Sherwood Park, AB. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our equipment and facilities.

About The Role: Keep operations running smoothly—be the backbone of reliability for our plant

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for quality, maintenance, safety, and service concerns on shift
  • Enforce safety procedures to minimize injury risk and reduce recordable incidents
  • Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections to reduce downtime
  • Complete accurate computer-based entries, including Team PM tasks and work order submissions
  • Fabricate and install new equipment or systems as required
  • Maintain inventory and order parts to ensure availability of spares
  • Schedule and coordinate downtime with production for maintenance and repairs
  • Conduct basic electrical and boiler maintenance
  • Fill out all corresponding permits required for each task without fail (e.g., hot work, confined space, lockout/tagout)
  • Ensure all major expenditures are communicated to and approved by the Plant Manager before proceeding
  • May assist with production tasks only when all maintenance responsibilities are complete and with approval from the Plant Manager
  • Perform snow removal and general yard care as needed
  • Perform other duties as required

Skills and Expertise

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • 2–3 years of experience in maintenance (feed mill/manufacturing experience preferred)
  • Millwright ticket or actively working toward certification (asset)
  • Class 4 or 5 Power Engineer ticket (asset)
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and computerized work order platforms (e.g., Team PM)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive work attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail
  • Ability to work with a team but also self-motivated to be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally

Expectations from the Role:

  • Rotating shifts are required, including occasional weekends or extended hours based on operational needs
  • Ability to regularly bend, twist, climb ladders, open/close lids and stand for extended periods
  • Capable of operating equipment and working at heights when required
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 kg (55 lbs) regularly
  • Comfortable working in a dusty, noisy, and variable-temperature environment
  • Must possess a valid class 5 license
