Job summary

Christenson Communities in Edmonton is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, repairs and safety checks across our facilities, ensuring a safe living environment for residents.

The role requires teamwork, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work weekends/evenings when needed. A Class 5 license and capability to travel between sites are essential, with a supportive, inclusive workplace and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor drywall repairs, painting and general maintenance.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and inspections of building systems.
  • Conduct safety checks and daily facility walk-throughs.
  • Provide basic HVAC/electrical/plumbing maintenance.
  • Diagnose, repair and replace appliances as needed.
  • Complete carpentry tasks, repairs and minor renovations.
  • Pressure wash surfaces and maintain grounds and equipment safely.
  • Coordinate with staff to complete tasks and respond to tickets.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records of work performed.
  • Assist with resident move-ins/outs and suite turnovers.
  • Travel between sites to fulfill maintenance needs and respond after hours.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Minor drywall repairs & painting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections and troubleshooting of building systems and equipment.
  • Conduct safety checks and daily facility walk throughs.
  • Perform basic maintenance for HVAC systems/electrical/plumbing.
  • Diagnose, repair, maintain and replace appliances as required.
  • Complete general carpentry projects, repairs, installations and minor renovations
  • Pressure washing as required.
  • Maintaining the grounds, facility and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with government standards.
  • Working to problem solve, plan, organize, communicate and cooperate with other staff members to ensure that tasks are completed.
  • Assisting with resident move ins/outs and performing necessary repairs for suite turnovers.
  • Receive, prioritize, document and complete maintenance requests using the organizations work order/ticketing system
  • Keeping accurate maintenance records of work done.
  • Other duties to be assigned as required.

  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-directed with the ability to effectively manage your time and resources to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a moderate degree of flexibility and tolerance to adjust to changes in workloads, assignments and days (eg. occasional weekends, evenings etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, as needed.
  • Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control; adherence to safe work practices and procedures is essential in this position.
Bona-Fide Occupational Requirements
  • Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position (may be required to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds)
  • Ability to work on his/her feet for a complete shift while constantly bending, stretching, walking, lifting, or moving things.
  • Be able to safely work from a ladder.
  • A current and clear Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Valid Class 5 driver's licence and a reliable vehicle are required. The position involves regular travel between sites and suppliers, transporting tools and maintenance materials, and responding to operational and after-hours maintenance needs.
