Key Responsibilities

  1. Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, electrical code specifications, and manufacturer’s manuals to determine installation requirements and layout of industrial electrical equipment.
  2. Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices; coordinate with vendors as needed.
  3. Install, examine, replace, or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
  4. Test equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  5. Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  6. Implement preventive maintenance programs, perform routine maintenance on all equipment, and keep maintenance records.
  7. Conduct daily inspections, monitoring, and maintenance of all equipment.
  8. Train other maintenance personnel and operators on machinery.
  9. Prepare troubleshooting guides, work instructions, SOPs, and other documentation for machinery.
  10. Be flexible with work hours and shifts to accommodate production needs while troubleshooting.
  11. Identify opportunities for improvements on machinery.
  12. Understand critical inventory parts required and ensure all parts are entered into the maintenance software system.
  13. Perform preventive maintenance to identify worn-out parts before failure and plan replacements, maintaining records.
  14. Follow lock-out and tag-out procedures.
  15. Apply knowledge of autonomous maintenance and follow-up.
  16. Drive continuous improvement efforts through standardized work to reduce costs and improve productivity and quality.

Education / Experience

  1. Diploma / Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  2. 6+ years’ experience in a Windows & Doors industry in a maintenance role.
  3. Experience with Windows cutting, welding, cleaning machines such as Urban, Sturtz, Proline GED, or equivalents.
  4. IG line experience with Forel, Glaston, GED, or equivalents.
  5. Tempering furnace troubleshooting experience: Glaston.
  6. Arrising line experience: Ashton.
  7. Glass cutting machines: Bottero, GED, Bystronic, or equivalents.
  8. Knowledge of preventative maintenance, CMMS, mechanical/electrical systems, and quality control systems within manufacturing.
  9. Availability for overtime on short notice and occasional travel.
  10. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract.
  11. Proficiency with computer systems including Excel and Word.

Working Conditions

  1. Physically able to lift between 0 lbs to 50 lbs.
  2. Work primarily in a production facility where the environment can be dusty and noisy.
  3. Move around the plant, maneuver products, and gather information.
  4. Extended periods of sitting and telephone use required.
  5. Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and temperature fluctuations.
  6. Work area floors may be slippery during wet weather, with cracks and uneven surfaces.
  7. Tools, supplies, and chemicals may contain hazardous materials and emit odors.
