Job summary

IGNITE Fitness Holdings, a Planet Fitness franchisee, seeks a Maintenance Technician to service gyms across multiple clubs. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment and facilities, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and HVAC tasks, ensuring safe operations and timely responses.

You will travel to various club sites, operate power tools, and coordinate with internal teams and vendors on larger projects.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of handy work, facilities repair, or related maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of equipment repair, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility upkeep.
  • Fitness equipment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain fitness equipment across multiple facilities.
  • Perform electrical maintenance such as replacing lightbulbs, wiring, circuit breakers, and fuses.
  • Carry out carpentry and construction tasks such as sanding, painting, and general woodwork.
  • Complete plumbing repairs including toilets, faucets, and leak fixes.
  • Conduct general facility repairs including doors, locks, tiles, staining, polishing floors, and more.
  • Regularly inspect buildings, fitness equipment, and systems to identify potential issues and safety hazards.
  • Safely operate power tools, climb ladders, and move equipment or furniture weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Respond to maintenance requests via the Service Channel ticketing platform.

Position: Maintenance TechnicianReports to: Regional DirectorDepartment: Field OperationsJob Overview:IGNITE Fitness Holdings, a leading private-equity-backed franchisee of Planet Fitness with 130+ locations across 6 US States and 3 Canadian Provinces, is seeking a Maintenance Technician. This role is responsible for performing multiple preventative and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our gyms. Responsibilities include hands-on maintenance and repair of fitness equipment, routine facility upkeep, and the application of fundamental knowledge in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and flooring. This position reports directly to the Regional Director.What You Will Do:Repair and maintain fitness equipment across multiple facilities.Perform electrical maintenance such as replacing lightbulbs, wiring, circuit breakers, and fuses.Carry out carpentry and construction tasks such as sanding, painting, and general woodwork.Complete plumbing repairs including toilets, faucets, and leak fixes.Conduct general facility repairs including doors, locks, tiles, staining, polishing floors, and more.Work with cleaning solutions and ensure safe, efficient, and methodical upkeep of facilities.Regularly inspect buildings, fitness equipment, and systems to identify potential issues and safety hazards.Safely operate power tools, climb ladders, and move equipment or furniture weighing up to 100 lbs.Promptly respond to maintenance requests submitted via the Service Channel ticketing platform.Effectively assess and prioritize work based on urgency and facility needs while maintaining clear communication with team to ensure timely resolution.Support general upkeep tasks such as cleaning, and minor painting or carpentry projects.Occasionally support outdoor tasks including landscaping, sidewalks, and snow removal as needed.Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and perform necessary repairs.Provide support and effectively collaborate with internal teams and vendors on larger projects such as equipment extractions, installations, new club openings, as needed.Participate in training sessions to improve technical skills and knowledge.Drive to and from multiple locations within the assigned region as needed.What You Have Done:At least 3 years of handy work, facilities repair, or related maintenance experience.Knowledge of equipment repair, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility upkeep. Reliable transportation is required when company vehicles are not provided.Work Location: You will work primarily in a gym/fitness environment involving constant exposure to gym members and staff. Exposure to cleaning agents, dust, noise, and changing temperatures is expected.Physical Requirements: Ability to talk and hear, sit, stand, and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. Required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
