Job summary

Refresco Group in Calgary, AB seeks a maintenance technician to support industrial equipment and line maintenance in a fast-paced beverage production environment.

You will work with PMs, troubleshoot complex machinery, and ensure GMP compliance while coordinating with a cross-functional team to maintain peak plant performance.

Qualifications

  • Thorough technical knowledge in industrial maintenance and ability to read diagrams.
  • MOS leadership skills with team player attitude and multi-tasking capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to GMPs and PPE; follow health and safety policies in warehouse/production.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment; improve systems.
  • Plan and perform corrective and preventative maintenance requiring theory and principles.
  • Understand and baseline current state of work order planning, scheduling, and cost implications.
  • Master the plant CMMS (SAP-PM) and drive improvements in reporting and work orders.
  • Improve communications and effectiveness of work orders and reduce backlog.
  • Optimize work orders from breakdown to condition-based planning and scheduling.
  • Contribute to reductions in downtime and CPC costs across plants.
  • Document daily logs, downtime detail, and maintenance work orders.

The following are essential duties and responsibilities for this position:
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) while in the warehouse or production areas.
  • Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical/electronic equipment, will provide measurable improvements and enhancements systems.
  • Plans and performs complex corrective and preventative maintenance requiring a thorough knowledge of mechanical theories and principles.
  • Will be required to understand and baseline the current state in terms of the effectiveness of work order planning and scheduling and cost (materials, resources, time) implications.
  • Master the basics of the CMMS system utilized at the plant (i.e. SAP-PM) and become knowledgeable with system reporting and work order systems and methods – gaps will be identified and a formal improvement plan developed and put into place.
  • Improve communications between and show an improvement in the effectiveness of work order effectiveness and work order completion rate, reduction in back log, and a set of prioritized work orders with (improved) methods and procedures in place.
  • Optimize and effectively accomplish all work and work orders (from break down to condition based) and lead in the development of rules and controls over the planning and scheduling efforts.
  • Contributes to measurable improvements in scheduled, unscheduled and break down maintenance related down time and the costs associated with these events to contribute to CPC (cost per case) goals for each plant and shares best practices across and within the enterprise.
  • Daily completion of all documentation including but not limited to; daily log, downtime detail report, completed work orders, completed PMs, inventory issue slips, material requisitions and Maintenance Work Requests (MWRs)
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Thorough technical knowledge in the field of industrial maintenance, including relevant regulations, standards and codes. Ability to read and understand complex diagrams. Capable of MOS leadership skills combined with team player attitude.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and maintenance practices. Ability to read and understand complex piping diagrams and mechanical drawings. Objective judgment and fact based decision making approach. Strong multi-tasking competency.
Education and Experience:
  • Millwright/Electrician (Dual Ticket an asset)
  • 5 years production/line machine maintenance experience
  • Line maintenance within a food and beverage production environment preferred
Working Conditions:
  • Physical-Continuously standing or walking. Regular requirements to lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight.
  • Visual/Sensory-This position requires regular need to give moderate attention with one or two senses at a time.
  • Work environment- Work and environment are very repetitive.
  • Mental Stress- There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands.
