Job summary

Southbridge Care Homes in Scarborough, ON is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee routine maintenance and safety across the long‑term care home. Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager, you will manage repairs and preventive maintenance, maintain logs, and coordinate with contractors to keep the facility safe for residents and staff.

The ideal candidate brings supervisory experience in a similar setting, mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of WHMIS/OH&S.

Qualifications

• Two+ years supervisory experience in long-term care or similar
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read/write English
• Experience with WHMIS and OH&S safety practices
• Experience with electrical, plumbing, painting preferred
• Ability to manage a team and coordinate maintenance tasks

Responsibilities

• Follow and manage the Preventive Maintenance Program and Demand Maintenance Program
• Perform repairs including painting, drywall, minor plumbing, electrical, lighting
• Inspect and service life safety equipment and systems
• Review maintenance logs and ensure accurate record-keeping
• Coordinate annual preventive maintenance with contractors
• Be available for short-notice call-ins and support department managers
• Conduct pre-startup assessments on new equipment as applicable
• Relieve and support management as needed
• Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment and adherence to safety procedures
