Job summary

Pilkington Glass of Canada Ltd. seeks a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead a shift in our Whitby facility.

You will ensure safety, enforce guidelines, coordinate activities, and drive performance using the PDCA approach to deliver high-quality products at the lowest feasible cost. Responsibilities include staffing, training, monitoring KPIs, managing shipments, and coordinating with Materials teams to prioritize orders, while maintaining NSG standards and a positive, collaborative work

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-3 years recent supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to utilize a computer-based inventory control system.
  • Proven leadership, motivation, team building, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent customer relations and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to lift 1–70 lbs without assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Work in compliance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Ensure safety of all employees through training and enforcement of guidelines.
  • Maintain 5S, housekeeping, and workplace organization to NSG standards.
  • Plan and coordinate production activities to maximize quality and minimize cost using PDCA.
  • Review shipment schedules.
  • Develop internal and external programs to meet customer expectations through continuous improvement.
  • Ensure production KPIs meet safety, quality, throughput, downtime, and yield targets.
  • Facilitate training for supervised employees to perform their jobs.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels to resolve issues.
  • Staff shifts and coordinate team assignments.
  • Pre-shift safety walk to address items and current conditions.
  • Prepare and deliver Green Circle meetings to address unsafe conditions.
  • Supervise shipping dock and store room operations.
  • Understand customer priority as assigned by Materials Specialist or Team Leader.
  • Manage order/load flow to staging; assess time before load out.
  • Dunnage handling and route-specific requirements.
  • Shipment close and communication.
  • ASN/Short ship/Customer contact confirmations.
  • Adhere to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Job description

  • Develops both internal and external programs to meet or exceed customer expectations through continually improving products, processes and services.
  • Ensure all production KPI’s meet or exceed budgeted levels for safety; quality, thruput, downtime, and yield.
  • Facilitate training for all supervised employees to understand the requirements for successfully performing their job function.
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels to ensure matters of mutual concern are addressed and resolved.
  • Understand current/potential expedites during shift.
  • Staff the shift, and coordinate assignments and responsibilities to the scheduled team members.
  • Pre-shift Safety Walk to advise team on items to address and current conditions.
  • Green Circle Meeting- Prep/Delivery- ANY UNSAFE CONDITIONS.
  • Supervise shipping dock and store room operations
  • Understand priority of customers as assigned by Materials Specialist or Materials Team Leader.
  • Understanding of current customer condition to ensure proper flow of standard delivery, expedite mode,critical deliveries.
  • Manage the order/load flow to staging; assess time before load out and window time.
  • Manager dunnage handling and customer/route specific requirements.
  • Shipment Close and Communication.
  • Confirmation of ASN/Short Ship/Customer Contact.
  • Process/Operations Failure Escalation Process.
  • Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Qualifications Required:
