Job summary

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in a maintenance or industrial setting.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Experience planning and executing maintenance shutdowns.
  • Proficiency with CMMS (e.g., Manager Plus) and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance activities with the Maintenance Scheduler.
  • Supervise a crew of welders, heavy-duty mechanics, and millwrights and assign work.
  • Lead troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automation issues.
  • Ensure safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements are followed.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors; support shutdown planning and execution.
  • Prepare maintenance records and reports using CMMS and manage costs.
  • Collaborate with Operations to minimize downtime and drive plant performance.
  • Mentor maintenance employees and ensure safety training.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities to ensure the reliability, safety, and availability of plant and mobile equipment in a heavy industrial environment. This role leads a skilled maintenance crew and external contractors to deliver planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance while minimizing downtime and controlling costs.The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting operational continuity by ensuring equipment is maintained to a high standard, maintenance work is properly planned and executed, and safety and compliance requirements are met at all times. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to balance hands-on field supervision with planning, reporting, and coordination activities.The successful candidate will foster a positive, engaged, and productive maintenance team while collaborating closely with Operations, Safety, and external service providers to support RSR’s production and sustainability goals.

JOB DUTIES

Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventative, corrective, and shutdown maintenance activities in conjunction with the Maintenance SchedulerSupervise and provide technical leadership to a crew of welders, heavy-duty mechanics, and millwrightsAssign work, prioritize tasks, and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and to standardLead and support troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automation issues as requiredEnsure maintenance activities comply with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirementsLiaise with external contractors and vendors, including coordinating scope of work, timelines, and performanceSupport shutdown planning and execution, including resource planning, contractor coordination, and post-shutdown reviewPrepare and maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)Monitor maintenance costs and contribute to budget planning and cost control initiativesCollaborate with Operations and other departments to minimize equipment downtime and improve plant performanceSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and safetyParticipate in investigations related to equipment failures, incidents, or near misses and implement corrective actionsCoach, mentor, and develop maintenance employees to build technical capability and succession readinessEnsure compliance with lockout/tagout, confined space, and other critical safety proceduresAdditional duties as assigned

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering diploma, degree, or equivalent experience ORRed Seal Certification in a relevant trade such as Electrician, Industrial Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or a related skilled trade

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 7+ years of experience in a maintenance or industrial setting2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance environment preferredStrong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systemsProven ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and provide technical guidance to maintenance teamsExperience planning and executing maintenance shutdownsStrong work planning, scheduling, and organizational skillsProficiency with CMMS systems (e.g., Manager Plus) and Microsoft OfficeProject management experience related to equipment repairs, upgrades, or installationsAbility to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical documentationStrong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skillsCommitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvementAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment

WORK CONDITIONS

Full-time, on-site position, Monday to FridayOccasional evenings and weekends required to support planned outages, critical repairs, or vacation coverageCombination of office-based work and field supervisionWork performed indoors and outdoors in a heavy industrial environment, including exposure to noise, machinery, and varying weather conditions
