POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Housing

Purpose Of Position
The Housing Maintenance Supervisor position is responsible for the overall management, administration, leadership, supervision and operation of the TteS Housing Department to ensure a high level of service for the community.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Strategizes, develops, administers, supervises and manages the TteS Housing program and initiatives to ensure they are aligned with the TteS values. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Housing Maintenance Crew (90%).
- Under the Administrative direction of the TteS Housing Manager, the Housing Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supervising, planning, coordinating, and organizing of any TteS Housing maintenance projects as assigned. In their absence they shall coordinate with TteS Housing staff and Housing Maintenance Crew to be available for weekend or evening call outs as scheduled.
- Review assigned maintenance projects on a regular basis with Housing maintenance crew.
- Prioritize and coordinate work activities, determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and determine methods for expediting workflow.
- Oversee Housing Maintenance planning and resourcing activities.
- Participates in activities related to recruiting, selecting and hiring and dismissal of Housing maintenance crew.
- Develop, implement, and monitor of department functions in order to ensure efficiency, proper tracking, quality and quantity of work standards.
- Builds partnerships with stakeholders and is involved in contract negotiations.
- Ensures that all Housing maintenance tools and equipment are in good repair and are regularly maintained.
- Oversees mechanical servicing and light repair of equipment.
- Delegates the required lubrication on equipment is performed on a daily basis including regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Ensures that needed maintenance and repairs of TteS Housing fleet vehicles are performed.
- Oversees training of the Housing maintenance crew in day-to-day monitoring, maintaining and servicing of equipment to ensure that operation standards are met.
- Visually inspect problem areas in the field and determine materials, Housing maintenance crew, and time needed to bring up to standard.
- Observe work in progress and after completion; ensure compliance with maintenance and quality standards, code and environmental requirements.
- Ensure safe working practices are observed at all times.
- Ensure that all Housing maintenance crew are equipped with, and use required safety gear.
- Prepares and administers TteS Housing Maintenance budgets, estimates revenues and exercises budget control on the maintenance budget.
- Record quantities, costs and other particulars related to maintenance programs (i.e., mileage, fuel consumption data, etc.), as well as compilation and verification of all payments.
- Track, record, and report on Service Agreement activities.
- Ensure all invoices on purchases are authorized and coded to the proper account code.
- Approve daily time sheets of Housing maintenance crew.
- To be capable of and assume the duties of Housing maintenance crew whenever required.
- Maintain courteous business-like relations with the public, contractors, Band Members and co-workers.
- Receives and responds to housing maintenance emergency situations and acts accordingly.
- Participate in TteS Emergency Management Systems related to Housing department functions.
- Ensure that outside of operating hours TteS Maintenance shed and cans are locked and secure at all times.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with TteS policies, standards, and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of TteS.
- Expected to continuously upgrade skills and knowledge, and to further their formal training in areas that support the management of TteS Housing Maintenance crew functions (5%).
This Includes
- Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence.
- Standard First Aid Level C Ticket.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems Training (WHMIS).
- Budgeting, computer and office skills were appropriate.
- Other related duties as necessary. (5%)
- Works cooperatively with others to support TteS’s respectful workplace and to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Participates in workshop training programs and seminars provided by TteS to upgrade skills and knowledge relevant to the position.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve TteS operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes.
- Share information and request feedback from TteS membership at General Band Meetings, Annual General Meetings, and through weekly internal communications as appropriate and requested.
Professional Certification, Education And Experience
- Must have grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Must possess a Valid Class 5 BC Drivers License.
- Red Seal Certification or 10 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A Valid Standard First Aid ticket, Level 1 is preferred.
- WHIMIS Certificate is preferred.
Financial Responsibility
This position has an annual budget of approximately $12,000.
- Signing Authority ($2,500).
- Collaborate with Housing Manager to review annual budget for Housing Maintenance Crew.
Supervision Or Training Duties
This position supervises approximately 3-4 positions.

- Ability to coordinate and manage concurrent activities and allocate resources appropriately.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Good written and oral communication.
- Good computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet and database management.
- Extremely strong client communication and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work alone independently / unsupervised.
- Ability to provide direction and guidance to staff.
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting.
- Strong ethics and knowledge of confidentiality.
- Physically able to perform duties.
- It is expected that all TteS employees be willing to continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge, and to further their formal training.

HOURS OF WORK:
Normal Day shifts - 7 hours. Non-normal shifts may be required.
PAY GRADE:
Starting at $35.87 - 39.62 per hour depending on education and experience.
