Job summary

Saputo Inc. in Abbotsford is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a skilled team and manage equipment across our dairy facility. You will develop preventive maintenance plans, coach teams, and ensure safe, compliant operations in a 24/7 production environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Engineering and 5+ years of supervisory experience. Proficiency with CMMS, SAP, and Kronos is an asset, with strong budgeting and parts sourcing skills valued at Saputo.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in a preventive maintenance program; CMMS knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience in parts inventory, cost control, sourcing parts and managing budgets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP and Kronos are assets.
  • Knowledge of computer-aided processing and packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach maintenance personnel with proactive communication.
  • Maintain sanitation, refrigeration, packaging, and storage equipment across Edmonton Facilities.
  • Develop annual maintenance plan and budget with Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensure safe work following OH&S and company procedures.
  • Provide training to maintenance and plant staff as required.
  • Coordinate with vendors and engineering; supervise electrical installations.
  • Ensure PLC programs are updated and current.
  • Develop schedules and ensure tooling availability.
  • Maintain production, packaging, storage and material handling equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment to sustain production efficiency.

Overview Of The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for efficiently and economically maintaining in good repair all mechanical, electrical, computer‑aided and utility technologies used to manufacture, package, store and ship products at the Abbotsford Facilities. This is to be accomplished utilizing continuous improvement strategies, keeping up with current and future technological developments while developing sound relationships within the organization. This is a full‑time position Monday – Friday, available to support the facility within a 24/7 operation.

Salary Range: $88,140.00 – $110,175.00

Salary offers will vary commensurate with experience, education, skills, and training.

How You Will Make Contributions That Matter
  • Leadership/coaching of maintenance personnel through pro‑active communications, employee involvement, participation, individual feedback and appraisal.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of all sanitation, refrigeration, packaging and storage equipment, machines and devices used to produce, package, handle, store and ship products made at the Edmonton Facilities.
  • Establish, with the help of the Maintenance Manager, an annual maintenance plan and budget; review revenues and costs relative to budget on a monthly and establish further action plans.
  • Maintain a high standard of sanitation, housekeeping and cleanliness within the maintenance shop and related equipment areas within the facility.
  • Provides professional advice regarding the repair and maintenance of all machines and equipment.
  • Facilitate the timely and efficient packaging of fluid products.
  • Carries out preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment in breakdown situations to ensure production efficiencies are achieved.
  • Provides training to maintenance & plant staff as required.
  • Works with all trades groups to complete project assignments; coordinates with vendors & engineering as required.
  • Supervises electrical installations.
  • Ensures PLC programs are updated and current.
  • Develops appropriate schedules, manning and material requirements.
  • Ensures the availability of the appropriate tools.
  • Maintains in good repair all production, packaging, storage, shipping and material handling equipment and machines as well as the physical plant.
  • Ensures that all work is performed safely, while following OH&S, WCB and company regulations and procedures.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Experience in a preventive maintenance program, knowledge of CMMS software would be an asset
  • Experience in parts inventory
  • Experience in cost control
  • Experience in sourcing parts
  • Experience in managing budget
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Knowledge and experience in SAP & Kronos are an asset
  • A broad understanding of computer‑aided processing and packaging equipment
  • Excellent in diagnosing and problem solving and spatial relations ability
  • Food industry or high‑speed packaging experience
  • PLC training and experience an asset
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • High level of self‑motivation and initiative
