Nature and Scope
The Maintenance & Security Coordinator plays a critical role as part of the team that provides safe, clean and efficient environment at SIIT. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.
General Accountability
The incumbent is responsible for providing building maintenance services along with all related aspects of safety and security. The Maintenance & Security Coordinator focuses on facility operations that mitigate risk and ensure the safety of SIIT's employees, visitors and assets.
Specific Accountabilities
The Maintenance & Security Coordinator will provide services regarding maintenance procedures and building operations to all of the SIIT sites. The incumbent will address mechanical issues, respond to technical queries, and promote best practices in health and safety. The Coordinator provides support in the Facilities department and is an active member of the Occupational Health & Safety Committees. This position is an active member of the Security Threat Assessment Team (STAT), and includes the following accountabilities:

Required Qualifications and Experience: A diploma or certification related to commercial building maintenance and operations, with preference given to candidates with 5 or more years' experience. A valid Firemen's Certificate, Health & Safety credentials and trades related training are considered assets. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be in good physical condition in order to perform a variety of manual activities. Knowledge of First Nations culture and organization is an asset. Incumbent much have a reliable vehicle and valid driver's license as travel is required.Computer skills, attention to detail.
As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT's Alcohol and Substances policy.
