Job description

Job Type:

Regular

Plains Midstream Canada (PMC) is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). PMC also operates strategically-located facilities for crude oil and NGL storage, separates NGL from natural gas and fractionates NGL into pure liquid petroleum gas (LPG) products, including propane and butane.

Fueled by our strong leadership team and a dedicated employee base, combined with our expertise in marketing, logistics and our asset base, PMC is well-positioned to provide our customers with flexible, value-added services now and in the future.

Our Operations department is a talented group of professionals who are committed to conducting our business in a manner that ensures the safety and security of the public, our employees and contractors, our assets and the environment. We want consistent and predictable operations done the right way, every time.

Plains is currently looking to fill the position of Maintenance Scheduler to support a series of assets in the Alberta area. Working with our Instrumentation, Mechanical, Engineering, Construction and Operations personnel, you will report to the Maintenance Supervisor and be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective scheduling of short- and long-term maintenance activities associated with asset integrity, capital, and major maintenance/turnaround projects.

This role will be based out of one of our field offices in Olds, Buck Creek, or Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. Preference will be given to candidates who are located in or near Olds, Alberta, and can commute to our Olds office.

Plains provides a competitive wage and top tier group benefit plan for employees and their eligible dependents. New employees are eligible to participate on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilize the work execution management process (WEMP), maintaining a clear overview of the volume of prepared corrective maintenance backlog and prioritizing when to bring the work into the schedule for execution.
  • Develop the monthly maintenance schedule for the District assets (COED Pipeline, MAPL Pipeline, Rangeland and Cremona).
  • Remain aware of advances in field and look for ways to add value to the business.
  • Create and communicate draft schedules based on tasks, operational constraints, and corrective work order priorities.
  • Assist with management of change (MOC) processes.
  • Take initiative for own development and improvement and persistently strive to improve individual performance.
  • Monitor and review maintenance plans particularly in relation to equipment stoppages, outages, and shutdowns— and propose adjustments to plans as required.
  • Monitor work execution constraints and available work centre capacities and campaign periods, highlighting upcoming constraints in time to mitigate them.
  • Monitor work periods for specialist services. Propose suggestions on changes to trade mix to fit estimated work.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of different perspectives and a willingness to share knowledge and ideas and provide a helping hand as needed.
  • Coordinate all schedule cycle meetings and integrate with the work preparation team and responsible personnel to assure work execution.
  • Assist with the development, monitoring, and tracking of maintenance KPIs, working with various stakeholders to act when KPIs are outside of target ranges.
  • Assist with building good working/customer relationships with contractors and service providers.
Qualifications:
  • Skilled Industrial Electrical and/or Mechanical Trade(s) and/or 5 years' experience in Oil and Gas Pipelines or other relatable industry as an operator.
  • MMP Certification or willingness to take MMP training modules 1&6.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • A collaborative and cooperative mindset.
  • Previous experience with formal or informal Planning, Scheduling, Coordination or Project Management.
  • Experience with other computer systems, PCMS, Microsoft Projects, Scada, PI, Power BI, Workday, 3D modeling systems and measurement data tracking systems.
  • Experience with the Prometheus Scheduling tool.
  • Experience with measurement and product quality.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
