Maintenance Repair Technician

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Work Hours: 40 hours/week, 12 months/year

Pay Band: 8 - $27.00 - $30.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Maintenance Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing facility services equipment, as well as keeping detailed records of all repairs for each piece of equipment. For detailed responsibilities, please refer to the job description in KPR on the Web.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Small Engine Technician Certificate and/or Appliance Repair Technician Certificate. Other mechanical training certificates are considered assets.
  • At least one year of recent experience troubleshooting and repairing small engines and equipment (auto-scrubbers, vacuums, snow blowers, lawn mowers, etc.).
  • Experience with electronic inventory systems is an asset.
  • Experience developing preventative maintenance programs is an asset.
  • Willingness to complete employer-provided maintenance training.
  • Valid Ontario Class G2 driver’s license.
Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs for staff on proper equipment use and maintenance.
  • Maintain up-to-date training records.
  • Regularly inspect equipment for safety and functionality.
  • Test and diagnose issues with custodial equipment.
  • Disassemble and repair equipment as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain electronic records of equipment inspections and repairs.
  • Research technical information for repairs.
  • Conduct seasonal and annual equipment inspections.
  • Transport chemicals safely using Board vehicles.
  • Manage inventory of repair supplies.
  • Assess repair and replacement needs and make recommendations.
  • Research and recommend new equipment purchases.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager, Facility Operations.
Supervision

This position does not supervise staff.

Working Conditions

The primary work location is the Peterborough Shop at the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Education Office, with frequent travel using Board vehicles within the district. Location may be discussed with the Manager.
