The PLC Technician is a member of the Maintenance team and as such, participates in team efforts to achieve assigned departmental goals. Working closely with all team members is critical in ensuring maintenance activities are completed correctly and on schedule, according to SOP’s and local regulatory requirements. As a PLC Technician on our team, your primary responsibilities will include examination, troubleshooting, replacement/repair of a wide variety of electrical and automation components. In addition, you will provide automation/control support to our maintenance team members during runtime equipment breakdowns to ensure optimal functionality of all production equipment within the facility. Utilizing our internal asset management system, your daily downtime routine will include preventative and corrective activities pertaining but not limited to control systems. In addition, working with our Regional Controls Technician on various continuous improvement and reliability projects in order to meet our bakeries short and long-term goals.

Job Location: Langley, British Columbia

Wage: $43.50/hour (Ticketed) + $2.00/hour night shift premium (if applicable) + $3.00/Hour Ticket premium (if applicable)

Shift: Day Shift/ Occasional night shifts as required.

Job Details:

Job Responsibilities:

· Read equipment manuals and blueprints to successfully complete installations, troubleshooting and repairs

· Install, troubleshoot and maintain motors, motor control logic, photo eyes, automation field devices and pneumatic control systems

· Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective components

· Proficient knowledge using tools such as Multi-meters, Insulation Testers and Thermal Imagers to troubleshoot and identify electrical components in need of overhaul, maintenance or calibration

· Proficient knowledge using Allen Bradley automation software within the RS Logix family of controllers and Factory Talk View

· Proficient knowledge with Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems

· Proficient knowledge working with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), Installing, Troubleshooting and Maintaining

· Participate in continuous improvement projects to optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability

· Complete Work Orders according to PM and CM schedules

· Comply with all applicable legislative and Bakery food safety, health and safety and environmental policies and procedures

· Ensure that work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times

· Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and internal LOTO policy

· Perform other related duties as assigned or required

The Ideal Candidate:

· Certification from a nationally accredited PLC institution (Required)

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a high speed manufacturing environment (Food manufacturing is highly preferred)

· Proficient knowledge using Allen Bradley automation software (Required)

· Proven track record working with Multi-meters, Insulation Testers and Thermal Imaging equipment (Required)

· Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

· Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs

· Thrives in a team environment

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· Strong focus on continuous self-improvement

· Basic Electromechanical troubleshooting
