Maintenance Planner, Thunder Bay Sawmill

The Thunder Bay location in Ontario, Canada, is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Maintenance Planner. This is a full-time, permanent role.

Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure application of highest safety standards for all maintenance operations
  • Provide leadership, technical support, and coaching to trade personnel and peers while developing and maintaining positive employee relations
  • Collaborate with Production and Maintenance personnel to plan, schedule, and supervise maintenance and capital work as we transition from project construction into daily operations
  • Utilize the Maintenance & Supply Chain Best Practices with the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for processing work orders, purchase requisitions, weekly schedules, PMs, and updating the equipment database
  • Perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems to observe operating conditions and the need for repair or adjustment
  • Supervise repairs/projects carried out by subcontractors, ensuring quality and adherence to deadlines through rigorous follow-ups
  • Plan and control expenditures in accordance with the department's operating budget
  • Verify the availability of parts, materials, and tools required for execution
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations regarding health and safety of maintenance employees and contractors
Candidate Profile:
  • Mechanical, Electrical Engineering Technologist, Trades certification, or related industry experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated progression in leadership roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate across all levels, and adapt quickly to change
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CMMS, and solid computer skills
  • Self-motivated individual committed to Safety & Reliability Excellence
  • Good knowledge of sawmill and planer mill equipment
