The Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada location is seeking talent to fill the position of Mechanical Engineering Technician. This is a full-time permanent role.

Overview:

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.

Your Challenges:
  • Ensure application of the highest safety standards for all maintenance operations
  • Provide leadership, technical support, and coaching to trade personnel and peers while developing and maintaining positive employee relations
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance personnel to plan, schedule, and supervise maintenance and capital work as we transition from project construction into daily operations
  • Utilize maintenance & supply chain best practices with the CMMS for processing work orders, purchase requisitions, weekly schedules, preventive maintenance, and updating the equipment database
  • Perform periodic inspections of equipment and systems to observe operating conditions and the need for repair or adjustment
  • Supervise repairs/projects carried out by subcontractors, ensuring quality and adherence to deadlines through rigorous follow-ups
  • Plan and control expenditures in accordance with the department's operating budget
  • Verify the availability of parts, materials, and tools required for execution
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, and regulations regarding health and safety for maintenance employees and contractors
Your Profile:
  • Mechanical, electrical engineering technologist, trades certification, or related industry experience
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated progression in leadership roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate across all organizational levels, and adapt quickly to change
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail with the ability to see the big picture
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CMMS, and solid computer skills
  • A self-motivated individual committed to safety and reliability excellence
  • Good working knowledge of sawmill and planer mill equipment
