Position Summary
The Maintenance Planner improves maintenance productivity and quality by evaluating and resolving delays through planning and scheduling. Coordinates resources, parts, materials, and equipment for operations. Troubleshoots and repairs complex defective production systems. Maintains detailed maintenance reports indicating the resolved problems. Reports complex system failures to management. Assists with scheduling and supports technical training for personnel.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Systems
- Ensure maintenance plans comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and optimize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for scheduling, tracking, and reporting maintenance activities.
- Schedule regular maintenance to prevent equipment failures and extend asset life.
- Create, assign, and track work orders to ensure timely completion.
- Manage spare parts and materials to ensure availability when needed.
- Train staff on CMMS usage and best practices.
- Audit preventive and corrective tasks to ensure maintenance activities comply with instructions, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Generate weekly reports on maintenance KPIs, costs, and equipment performance and reliability.
- Maintain documentation for audits and inspections.
Planning
- Collaborate with technicians, supervisors, and managers to prioritize and schedule proactive/reactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime.
- Schedule PMs with contracted vendors and debrief work completed prior to vendor leaving the facility.
- Ensure the availability of the right parts, personnel (contractors and Maintenance Techs), tools, and materials for planned maintenance tasks.
- Manage large maintenance projects, including shutdowns, installations, and overhauls, to ensure they are completed efficiently and on time.
Purchasing
- Manage the procurement process for spare parts and materials, ensuring timely availability and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and ensure quality and reliability.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Manage rental equipment, including timely pickup of equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field desired.
- 4 to 6 years of related experience in a high-output manufacturing or packaging facility.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Experience in procurement and vendor management.
- Proficiency in CMMS software.
- Solid understanding of reliability engineering principles, including FMEA, RCM, and RCFA.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
- Experience with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Project management and capital project management experience.
- Must be able to work off-shift and weekends.
