What You’ll Do

The maintenance planner is responsible for the effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of infrastructure maintenance associated with the plant explosive storage and handling activities for the bulk trucks, heavy mobile equipment, LT fleet and electrical, HVAC and boilers, etc. This role ensures that all maintenance work is executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with Canadian federal and provincial regulations. The Maintenance Planner plays a key role in optimizing availability, minimizing downtime, and supporting operational excellence through proactive maintenance strategies.

Maintenance Planning and Scheduling:

  1. Develop, maintain and optimize preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance plans.
  2. Schedule maintenance activities in coordination with operations to minimize production disruptions.
  3. Ensure planning reflects equipment criticality, safety risk, and compliance requirements.

Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

Ensure maintenance activities comply with:

  1. COHS Regulations
  2. Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR)
  3. Explosives Regulations, 2013
  4. Relevant CSA Standards (e.g., CSA 8620 for bulk transport tanks)
  5. Provincial occupational health and safety legislation
  6. Maintain records for inspections, certifications, and regulatory audits.

Work Order & CMMS Management:

  1. Generate and manage work orders using Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) in liaison with asset owners.
  2. Track work order progress, maintenance history, and equipment performance.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including root cause and failure analysis.

Materials & Inventory Coordination:

  1. Identify and requisition required parts, materials, and tools for planned work.
  2. Collaborate with client’s procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of critical spares.
  3. Track usage and manage documentation for critical and spare parts.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  1. Coordinate with maintenance contractors, operations, engineering and HSE personnel.
  2. Communicate equipment status, upcoming maintenance and scheduling impacts.

Reporting and Documentation:

  1. Prepare reports on key performance indicators (leading and lagging).
  2. Maintain accurate and auditable records for inspections, certifications, and regulatory compliance.

What We’re Looking For

  1. Post secondary in Mechanical Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred, but will consider equivalent work experience.
  2. 3+ years of experience in maintenance planning preferred.
  3. Strong knowledge of Canadian Safety regulations.
  4. Proficient in CMMS software.
  5. Excellent organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
  6. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Class 1 or 3 an asset).
