Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Parts Coordinator is responsible for establishing and managing maintenance stores and systems by collaborating with all Maintenance Department personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Intermediate understanding of maintenance, with advanced knowledge of machine parts, ability to interpret machine drawings, and understand manufacturer parts manuals.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Sorting, identifying, and correctly placing parts in their designated locations in chronological order.
  • Intermediate Excel skills to create and maintain inventory data control; experience with CMMS is an asset.
  • Monitoring re-order levels and replenishing inventory to maintain proper stock levels.
  • Following order policies and procedures as required.
  • Adhering to standard operational procedures and working safely.
  • Taking inventory of parts and equipment and maintaining accurate records.
  • Complying with regulations regarding hazardous materials, including obtaining Material Safety Data Sheets from vendors.
  • Obtaining quotations, placing purchase orders, and consulting with contractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Ensuring all purchase documentation is filed correctly.
  • Issuing parts and work orders to mechanics.
  • Purchasing materials for projects based on the bill of material (BOM).
  • Setting up accounts for new vendors and contractors.
  • Reporting and resolving discrepancies between physical counts and computer records.
  • Developing or improving inventory procedures.
  • Performing daily analysis to predict potential inventory issues.
  • Projecting inventory levels based on maintenance plans, demand, on-hand inventory, and external factors.
  • Leading strategic sourcing initiatives to find cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Creating automation and efficiencies within existing and new systems and tools.
  • Practicing operational excellence methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) and managing related projects.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • A relevant college diploma (e.g., Business, Supply Chain).
  • At least 2 years of experience in procurement, inventory, or supply chain management.
  • Experience in the food manufacturing industry is an asset.
  • Proficiency with computers and systems (Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and pay close attention to detail.
  • Solution-focused mindset with strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license.
  • Flexibility to work off-shift hours.
  • Experience with CMMS.
